I had the opportunity to work closely with Hugo Pereira Brito at Prowler, and it is a real pleasure to write this letter in his support.
If I had to choose one word to describe Hugo’s work, it would be precision. Everything he worked on was done with a level of care and rigor that is not easy to find. He took the time to understand each problem in depth, thought through the edge cases, and made sure every detail was right before considering a task finished. As a result, his work was consistently solid and reliable, and reviewing it was usually more about discussing ideas than about finding mistakes.
What set Hugo apart even further was how well he knew Prowler’s community. He kept a close eye on what users were asking for, the problems they were running into, and how they were actually using the product. He always had a clear picture of what mattered to them, and he could back it up with real examples. That made him a key voice whenever we discussed priorities or new features, and it helped the team focus on what users truly needed rather than on what we assumed they needed.
It is the combination of both qualities that makes him so valuable. Hugo understands a problem from the user’s point of view and then solves it to a very high standard, so the result is not only well built, but also the right thing to build. For an open-source product with an active community like Prowler, that made a real difference.
He is also a great person to have on a team. He communicates clearly, is open to feedback, and is always willing to help. He was particularly good at bringing what he learned from users back to the team in a concise and useful way, which kept our conversations about the product grounded in reality.
During the time we worked together, I saw Hugo take on more and more responsibility and become increasingly confident in his decisions. I am certain he will keep growing, and that any team will benefit from his rigor and his understanding of users.
Beyond his professional qualities, Hugo was someone I truly enjoyed working with, and I am grateful for the time we spent building things together.
